This is a complete set of 12 porcelain music boxes from the Franklin Mint's 1988 "Masterpieces of the Russian Ballet" collection. Each box features a detailed, kiln-fired image in the style of traditional Russian lacquer art, based on original designs inspired by classic ballets such as. The boxes are made of fine black porcelain and trimmed with 24-karat gold. Each one has a removable lid and contains a velvet-lined interior with a wind-up mechanism that plays a classical melody associated with the featured ballet.
The underside of each box is stamped with Fine Porcelain, 1988 The Franklin Mint. Each music box measures approximately 2.5 inches long and 1.5 inches wide, with slight variation between designs. Overall, the set is in excellent condition.
All wind-up mechanisms have been tested and are fully functional. One box has a small crack on the inside lip where the lid fits in. This is not visible from the outside and is only slightly noticeable if you remove the lid and inspect the interior. There are no other chips, cracks, or visible wear, and the gold trim and printed artwork remain in excellent shape. Almost all of the boxes are in their original packaging which is very protective and great for storage.
This complete collection is a thoughtful gift or a unique addition to a music box or ballet-themed collection.
