This original porcelain portrait doll bears an remarkable resemblance to one of the most captivating women in history. Exquisite hand-painted porcelain, this doll is elegantly costumed in a deep teal shirred chiffon gown with cascading train and a white faux-fur stole. Complete with purse and jewelry. Individually hand-numbered and fully authorized by Elizabeth Taylor. Elizabeth Taylor was born on February 27, 1932 in London to parents from Arkansas her father an art dealer with an art gallery in London and mother a former actress. They moved back to the US, to Beverly Hills, in 1939 as political tensions in Europe increased. Taylor's eyes in particular drew attention; they were blue to the extent of appearing violet, and were rimmed by dark double eyelashes, caused by a genetic mutation. She originally signed with Universal who dropped her so after signing with MGM, she had her first break-out role in National Velvet, of which there is another Franklin Mint doll in a jockey outfit. She appeared on the cover of LIFE magazine 11 times - more often than anyone else.

Her award-winning acting career lasted through the late 1960s. Elizabeth Taylor died in March 2011 at age 79 of congestive heart failure. As a teen, Taylor spent several summers in Minocqua, Wisconsin visiting her uncle Howard Young, an art dealer who had a home on Lake Minocqua. Used Condition - r emoved from box and displayed.
